Some campgrounds won’t allow open fires without a firepit and lugging around and packing a firepit can be a royal pain.  Enter the Primus Kamoto Openfire Pit.  It folds up for easy storage and transport, but its ash tray prevents ground damage from the fire.  It even includes a grill so it can be used for cooking.  I found a great review of it at .

Before starting a fire outdoors, review  “Leave No Trace”  principles and safe extinguishing practices. Always check the campground regulations for information on where you can build a fire, appropriate wood to use (some campgrounds sell firewood) and potential burn bans.
